Bharatpur, included in the Braj region, was once a major center of Shaivism as well. That is why ancient Shiva idols have been found here. Kushan, Gupta and post-Gupta statues have been found here, which are preserved in the State Museum. The most prominent in this is the one-faced Shivling.It is in the linga deity. It is believed that during the Shunga period, Shiva was worshiped in the Linga Deity. This is a very rare statue. Apart from this, the museum has about 40 statues of Shiva Parvati Vivah of the Gupta period, Uma-Maheshwar of the later Gupta period, Narmund Dharana Shiva, dancing Shiva of the 10th century, Harihara, Har-Pitamah of the 11th century etc.

Except for some of these statues, most of the idols were ruined including temples during the Mughal period. But the sculptor’s craft aesthetic sense is still reflected in these stones. Many of these sculptures are bi-shaped, quadrilateral and quadrilateral. The idol of Shiva marriage and Nataraja in these deities is very beautiful.The craftsmanship of the Uma-Maheshwar statue obtained from Kaman is excellent. One Mukhi Shivling, Harihar Shiva marriage and Nataraja idol are special among the Deities. Many statues displaying the life tableau of the Shiva family are in the state museum. This Shivling of about four and a half feet was found in Aghapur village adjacent to Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary. On the head part of this Shivling, there is a marking of Ushnishi Shiva.

This statue is very rare. It is believed that only one or two such statues exist in the country now. Tundil Yaksha and Ushnishi Shiva are embellished in Sthanakavastha on the Shivling found from village Gamdi. In these Shiva idols, Leela context and stories have been engraved with full vigor.The Deity representing the birth and emergence of Parvati, Nandan Ganesh and Kartikeya is in a sthanaka state. It is said that there are only two such deities in Rajasthan. In the medieval period, the Shiva family has been artistically crafted by the craftsmen.

Patravali, Narmund, Singh Charm, Purna Kalash, Utfulla, Lotus, Instrumental, Nandi, Gana and aspects related to Shiva are beautifully engraved in the idols. There are Deities representing the birth and emergence of Ganesha and Kartikeya. The marking of Shiva in human form took place in the Kushan period.This was an important period from the point of view of crafts. Mathura was its center. Therefore, many sculptures of this period were obtained from the towns of Kaman, Aghapur, Noh, Sogar, Katara, Gamdi, Bayana in Bharatpur. Many of these sculptures are bi-shaped, quadrilateral and quadrilateral. Brahma is also in the combined form of Vishnu. The beauty side is finely engraved in the Deities.

Dr. Singh told that the last ruler of the Maurya dynasty, Brihadraya, was killed by his general Pushya Mitra in 185 BC and started the rule of the Sunga dynasty over Magadha. The rule of the Sunga dynasty probably lasted for 100 years from 185 BC to AD. The rulers of Sunga-dynasty were followers of Vedic religion. During his time there was a special progress of Bhagwat religion. During this time Shiva was worshiped in the Linga Deity.
